When we are given an opportunity to serve the Lord, sometimes we forget we are not doing it ourselves, but we have been equipped. As Christians, we know we are to do as “unto the Lord.” We tell ourselves and others that we are just vessels and that anything good we do, comes from the Lord.

Yet, when an opportunity out of our comfort zone arises, we behave as if it is a surprise to God, and we pray, “God, do you really want me to do this? If so, I need your help, big time…”.

Friend, we must trust God all the way. We trust the Lord with the big things, but what about the things we think are random and for which we feel unprepared?

Our minds begin to churn as if we are just getting started and we need to plan, but God has already been equipping us for this moment. The opportunity He placed before you already has ten-fold blessings surrounding us and those He has placed in our path.

He has been equipping us from day one to do His will, walk in His way, and love and serve others. When we do, it is not up to us to see it through – that is God’s job. So if we worry about failing – it is God’s to do with as He has already planned.

It could be that He wants to teach us something more – perhaps humility? Maybe to trust the process? Or, it might be a moment when He’ll show us His heart and proves His faithfulness to us, to assure us. He knows we are ready for the task – even if we might be unsure. He wants our full trust – to rely on Him and not ourselves.

Our Father – our Maker, created in us the talents and skills He foreknew that we would use to serve Him.

We cannot compare ourselves to others – we have our own journeys, and God knows where our hearts are in each moment. He knows what He will use to “chip away and refine” in us, and we need to be okay with that. He also knows how our act of service will speak to someone else or touch someone’s life in some way.

The point is, it’s God’s to do with what He wants – whether to teach us or bless someone else, or both. So, we can go with all confidence, step out of our comfort zone, and do as unto the Lord, knowing He’s got this! Give any stress, nerves, and anxiety to the Lord and leave them with Him.

As He equips us, let’s not boast in ourselves. Understand that what He has created in us comes from Him and is used for His purpose.

But let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”   Jeremiah 9:24 ESV
