Whether married, in a relationship, or single, it seems it takes hitting the proverbial “brick wall” for some of us before we get it in our heads that we cannot look to another human to meet our needs.

Yes, God blesses us through others in our lives, and we are to love others, but it is when we rely on them to do the very things that we need to rely on God for that we hit that wall. Again and again.

Even happily married, if I looked to my husband first to be my provision, comfort, or wisdom, or I put him before God (or him, putting me before God), we would slam into the bricks. We would argue, and we would be disappointed in the other if they didn’t come through.

But to see GOD as our provider (not my husband’s money or my money, but God’s money), and as we see God as our FIRST RESOURCE to go to with a problem, to ask for HIS guidance, we save ourselves and each other from unnecessary bickering or having too high expectations for each other.

When you are single, and you are seeking someone to love and ‘to take care of you” or to make life easier, whether for stability, for help around the house, or even to have a father or mother for your child, it is imperative to begin seeking these things from God first.

Know that HE is your provider, your comfort, your wisest counselor, and loves your child more than you even know how to. He has a plan. Hear Him out. Wait for His timing.

You have heard of Kingdom Living. Well, this is it. To take all of our fears, worries, and longings, and give them to God and TRUST HIM with them, and not take anything back if He is doing things too slow or in a different way than you wanted. And not to look to the world (or humans) for the answer. We have been given direct access to God through Jesus Christ. What a privilege! Yet, we sometimes fail to remember the promise of what God has given us as our first resource.

Be aware of what you are seeking first.

  • What does it do for your relationship with the Lord?
  • What benefit is it toward the Kingdom?
  • Did you go to God first?
  • Do you trust Him with how and when He will answer? And if the answer is NO, do you still trust Him to do what is best?

His will IS His best because He loves you. NOTHING can separate us from the love of God. Romans 8:38 Matthew 6:33
