I will never forget when God gave me my heart’s desires, and my life was going better than anything I could have ever planned. God did that. I was happy. And then… CHANGE.
I was called to make a sacrifice, and I knew God wanted me to, but it would “mess up” what I thought was already perfect.
I had just found peace in my life and was very protective of it, but my sweet Mama needed me.
I was in my 40s after a painful divorce and had just achieved independence for the first time. God had given me an identity, a new career, and abundant life!
It would be giving up my newfound independence by living in my mother’s house.
After I briefly pouted to the Lord about it, I changed my attitude because I knew He was right, and He showed me the good He had planned for my Mama and me.
One of my assignments with the news publication I wrote for was to do food reviews. I took Mama with me and added her to my satirical stories. She was a hoot!
My column was the talk of the town even though Mama and I were in “Cognito.”
I wrote the entertaining food column as a little old lady named “Willie Mae,” and I created a cohort – Willie Mae’s best friend “Lois.” It was more fun to write as this dynamic duo, and it was a big help for my mom to have me with her.
She passed away a few years later, and I am so glad God had disrupted my “just right” life for even better. It might be easy for us to trust the Lord when we face difficult times, but when things are going well, do you trust Him with change? Will you allow Him the room to add something to your life for someone else?
I promise you, His blessings are ten-fold!🙌
